Bet types

1. Match winner. There are no draws; a team must win the majority of sets.
2. Correct set score. In a best-of-five, results can be 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2, each with a different price. In a best-of-three, 2-0 or 2-1.
3. Set handicap. A team gets or gives a set or a fraction of one, which evens out a mismatch.
4. Total points or sets. Over or under for the whole match or for a single set.

Reading a volleyball match live

Scoring comes in runs of consecutive points from one team's serve, so a 5-0 swing is not unusual. Pay attention to who serves next, to substitutions and to timeouts, which are often called to stop a run. Set winners need at least two points ahead, so tight sets can go beyond the usual 25 and push point totals up. A first set lost does not mean a match lost: teams that fall behind often adjust.

Staking notes
